Q.1. Write the features of herbs, shrubs, trees,
climbers and creepers. Give some
examples of each.
Ans.
i) Herbs:
- A herb is a non-woody plant that has green and tender stem with few branches on.
- It is usually short.
- Herbs have a variety of uses like adding flavor to food, providing medicine for diseases and some with spiritual touch.
- Tulsi, rice, wheat, sunflowers, mint and lettuce are the examples of herbs.
ii) Shrubs:
- A shrub is taller than a herb and has stem branching out at its base.
- The stems of shrubs are hard but not thick.
- A common place where shrubs are grown is known as shrubbery.
- Rose, jasmine, nerium and lemon plants are the exams of shrubs.
iii) Trees:
- These plants are very tall and have hard and thick brown stem.
- The stems have branches in the upper part, much above the ground.
- Trees serve us lot of benefits. They prevent soil erosion, maintain carbon dioxide content in the air, and provide us materials to make huts and to make furniture.
- Mango, neem, banyan and coconut tree are the example of trees.
iv) Creepers:
- Plants with thin, long and weak stems which cannot stand upright and spread on the ground are called creepers.
- Pumpkin and watermelon are the examples of creepers.
v) Climbers:
Plants with thin, long and weak stems which take support on neighbouring structures and climb up are called climbers.
Money plant, Pea plant, grapes vine are the examples of climbers.
Q.2. How does a climber plant differ from a creeper plant?
Ans. The main difference between the climber plants and creepers plants is that climber plants have climbing organs like tendrils(on their stems or leaves) but creeper plants have no such climbing organs.

Jasmine, Wheat, Rose, Palm, Henna, Carrot, Neem, Radish, Bougainvillea, Mustard, Paddy, Lemon, Sunflower, Cabbage, Eucalyptus, Coconut, Jamun.
